Norwegian Volunteer Ring silver ring Red and Blue enamel size 11.5

Stunning Norwegian Volunteer Ring with enamel coloring. Sterling silver ring of the Wiking Unit. Norwegian SS Volunteer Ring - marked - made of Sterling silver. The Norwegian flag. German eagle and laurel leaves to the right and inscription Wiking and oak leave ornament. There is silver stamp 925 in a cartouche on the back of the band. Ring size US 3 4 5 for the ladies toe rings 6 to 12 mens and ladies. See other listings for larger sizes. The ring is made of solid silver using the traditional enamel technique - Initially established in May 1940 as Division (motorisierte) Germania - the title was altered only days later to Division (motorisierte) Wiking - being formed around a core of personnel fron the Germania Regiment. To this core was added the two existing Germanic volunteer regiments Nordland and Westland. The first truly international division it numbered Germans (the majority) - Dutch - Danes - Norwegians - Finns - Walloons - and Flemings among its personnel - together with a smattering of Volkdeutsche from the Balkans. The division first went into action in the southern sector of the Eastern Front - as far as possible from their countrymen fighting in the volunteer legions around Leningrad.
